What OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Means for Pet Apparel Buyers

Yarn swatches

OEKO-TEX Standard 100 is a certification that tests textiles for harmful substances. Every component of a certified product is tested, including the yarn, buttons, and labels.

This matters more for pet clothing than for human clothing in one specific way: pets chew and lick their garments. Substances that stay on the surface of the fabric can be ingested.

For a buyer, the certificate serves two purposes. It reduces the risk of a product safety claim in your market, and it gives you a document to show marketplaces and retail chains that ask for material safety information.

When a supplier tells you they hold OEKO-TEX Standard 100, ask for the certificate and check three things:

  1. The certificate number and the expiry date.
  2. The company name on the certificate. It should match the factory that produces your order, not a trading company or a yarn supplier.
  3. The product scope. The certificate should cover the type of product you are ordering.

Our factory holds OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification covering our yarn and finished garments. The certificate can be viewed on our Certifications page or requested by email.

We also hold BSCI for social compliance, ISO 9001 for our quality management system, and GRS for our recycled yarn series.
